    What we do

Since 1948, Tavistock Relationships has been building an international reputation as a leading training and research centre in therapeutic and psycho-educational approaches to supporting couples.

We train the next generation of couple therapists and provide clinical services to individuals, couples and parents, face to face (in London) and online. We provide a range of affordable services to help people with relationship difficulties, sexual problems and parenting challenges.

In addition, we undertake research, service development and policy activities which encourage the development and growth of effective and innovative relationship support interventions.

Courses and training

We provide accredited professional trainings in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Psychosexual Therapy, from introductory courses to postgraduate level programmes.

We also offer a full programme of CPD courses and conferences which provide opportunities for professionals to further develop their expertise.

We also work with local and national government, the health and education sectors, and other voluntary organisations who commission us to develop and deliver training as well as relationship support programmes.

Counselling and therapy services

Our team of clinicians offer a range of affordable counselling and therapy services to support individuals, couples and parents facing relationship problems. We are a charity, and while we have to charge for our services, we are the only London-based service of its type which uses a sliding fee scale. We believe that relationship support should be accessible to all.

Policy and campaigns

Our policy and campaigns work aims to ensure that relationships are at the heart of policy-making at a national and local level.

We want the importance of relationships to a range of policy areas - including adult mental health, children's mental health, public health and children's services - to be recognised at the highest levels.

Research

Our research and evaluation work analyses the effectiveness of relationship-focused interventions.

With projects as disparate as reducing conflict between parents, improving communication between couples affected by dementia and helping couples with adopted children, our research aims to bring the value of couple-focused approaches and interventions to a wider audience.

Projects

We have a long history of innovation and applying couple-focused approaches to new populations and new settings, through project work commissioned by Government, local authorities or third sector organisation.
